28th School Under Construction!
Thanks to our many donors and supporters, Miracles In Action is now building school #28 in rural  Guatemala, in this our 6th year!  Ribbon cutting grand openings were in January and February 2010 for school #24 and #25 and #27.  Miracles In Action donates the funds for building materials, villagers provide the manual labor, and the local government donates the land and provides teachers. Everyone has a stake in the success of the school.
Together, we're making a difference!

School of Miracles #8 in Cojobal sponsored by the Bitzenhofer Family
In July we celebrated with the villagers the grand opening of a primary school expansion, now educating 310 children.
School of Miracles #12 in La Pedrera sponsored by Ann Fron
Here is Ann with her students at the school on Opening Day!  During a tour of the village, Ann's husband, Frank Pravato, saw that the women cooked on open fires inside their homes and breathed in the dense smoke - he pledged the funds to install safe, wood-burning, vented stoves in each home. Thank you Ann and Frank!
School of Miracles #9 in
La Pila sponsored by Dr. J. Subczynski
In the mts. where broccoli grows, nestled in the clouds, is a new school for 176 children.  Thank you Dr. Subczynski and Marco Island Rotary Club.

BEFORE - classes at La Pila were held in a temporary shelter of corn stock walls, dirt floor, and wood plank benches.

AFTER - Their new school was built by the village men, who now sit proudly in front of the building.  The local government paid for the skilled labor and provides teachers.

Offering Opportunities: Vocational Training
In orphanages and rural villages we have funded sewing centers, carpentry shops, a computer lab; and in 2008, we started raising funds for the construction of the Santa Cruz Vocational Center.  Our goal is to teach children and adults the skills they need to find a job, earn a living, and serve their community.

Clean Water Project Improving Lives
The struggle for survival is a daily occurrence in many of the areas where we work.  Most rural villages have no water.  Women and children must walk as much as 10 miles each day carrying 4 gallon jugs of water (34 lbs) for their family’s water supply. At Miracles In Action, we believe that children should spend their days at school, and not in carrying heavy water jugs from the spring to their home.  Currently, we are raising funds for our 19th village water system project.

Join us and make a miracle for someone living in abject poverty. See our "How You Can Help" link to learn more. And thanks for your support!
